Matchmaking: Use Cases Beyond Networking

Learn how to use the matchmaking intents (goals) to connect participants efficiently.

To be covered:

Intro

Every event is unique, and so are your needs when organizing your event in Brella. Our core is networking 🀝and based on hundreds of events, we know and understand that this component is essential for connecting your audience with like-minded people.

However, the matchmaking feature is not only about networking; this feature can help you connect participants with relevant people depending on your event goals.

🎯 So, how can you use matchmaking beyond networking purposes?

Your attendees attend your events for several reasons: networking, finding a job, seeking new solutions and prospects, mentors, investors, and you can name it. The matchmaking consists of  intents (networking, trading, investing, mentoring and recruiting) that smartly connect participants based on their attendance goals effortlessly.

In this article, we'll give you a few examples of how to align your event goals with matchmaking.

Let's start! πŸš€

USE CASE ONE - Recruiting

Use the matchmaking feature for recruitment and team-building purposes

The recruiting goal can be used in any event, regardless of the industry. This will connect people looking for a job with a recruiter AND vice versa.

πŸ†Example: Hackaton event (Junction)

The event was a hackathon that connected previous participants who wanted to be more involved in the community and participate in the yearly hackathon with partners.

🎯

Their goal was to connect up previous participants and the community to host smaller hubs around the world, ensuring attendees could participate virtually or locally.

πŸ’‘The solution was to establish 11 hubs worldwide, ensuring attendees who attended locally had the option (following all guidelines, naturally). And virtual attendees could join through Brella and gather in one place to work on the projects, whether onsite or online.

Organizers opted for Brella to have all virtual and onsite attendees in one place to introduce themselves and choose their interests with two goals matchmaking and recruiting. The matchmaking was used to connect teams online, and they could host their meetings through the Brella virtual rooms

πŸ‘‰If your event goals have a similar scenario, let's show you how to use matchmaking in your best interest.

For example, when creating matchmaking, ensure to:

  • Use the categories for general topics that are required to form a team.
  • Use the interests for specialization and focused skills to form a team.
  • Use the intents for networking and recruiting only. Recruiting intent will be a timesaver and helpful tool to find key people for your sponsors if recruiters are also attending the event. ❗Adding other intents is not suggested as these are not efficient for this scenario.

USE CASE TWO - Networking

Use the matchmaking feature for connecting with like-minded individuals

The networking goal can be used in any event regardless of the industry and goals.

This intent will help your audience find people interested in networking about the same topics.

πŸ† Example: Wine event (Hybrid)

A commercial event is needed to facilitate a massive event where wine tasters and suppliers meet to successfully get their products out to the market. So, organizers gathered their community onsite and online where wine tasters could taste the wine and communicate to suppliers their evaluation virtually through Brella. Simultaneously all attendees could also network through the platform.

🎯

The goal was to connect wine retailers, suppliers and producers around the world virtually and in person to successfully help them do business.

πŸ† Example: Investment event

This event is held to teach how start-ups and existing entrepreneurs can use Cryptocurrencies and build their businesses.
