How does Calendar sync work?

I want to my meetings and sessions in Brella to appear in my own calendar. What should I do?

You can use the Calendar synchronization feature for these purposes. Currently we have a limited functionality for this feature, we aim to upgrade it in the future. Calendar synchronization is only available on our Brella iOS app and Brella web version.

iOS App

To synchronize your schedule through our iOS app, go to Schedule, then press More (in the right top corner), and then press Calendar sync. This will prompt your Apple Calendar to subscribe to the "Brella Meetings and Bookmarks" calendar.

Subscribe to it and you will be able to see all your upcoming meetings and sessions from all upcoming events where you use Brella in Apple Calendar.

Your Apple Calendar should update automatically once your schedule changes in Brella. However, note that there may be some delay.

Web version

To synchronize your schedule through the Brella web version (next.brella.io), go to Schedule, then press Calendar sync in the bottom of the right side menu and then press Open instructions (on mobile web version, go to Schedule, press Filter & More, then Calendar sync, then Open instructions). There you will be able to sync your sessions with different calendars..  Screen Shot 2019-09-17 at 6.19.52 PM

  • Apple Calendar sync works the same way as on the Brella iOS app. It will sync all your upcoming sessions and meetings for all your Brella events and it will also be updated automatically once you have changes in your Brella schedule (there may be some delays though, it doesn't happen in instant).
  • Google Calendar sync allows you to sync your sessions and meetings by subscribing your Google Calendar to Brella calendar. It will sync all your upcoming sessions and meetings for all your Brella events and it will also be updated automatically once you have changes in your Brella schedule (the update only happens once a day though, since that is how Google Calendar sync works).

Note: currently Google Calendar integration has an issue where pressing on Google Calendar sync doesn't add you bookmarked sessions and meetings for all your Brella events. The workaround for this could be to create a calendar manually with a different URL, not syncing it.

To create the calendar with the URL:

  1. In Brella, press “Copy calendar URL to clipboard” under Microsoft Outlook (Mac & Browser) (or you can also use other methods to get the URL, this is the simplest method);
  2. Copy the URL;
  3. Go to Google Calendar, create the calendar there with the URL;
  4. Insert the copied URL, then inside this URL change webcal to https (so your final URL should be https://api.brella.io/code, instead of webcal://api.brella.io/code);
  5. Add the calendar.
    This will add your bookmarked sessions and meetings for all your upcoming events.
  • Microsoft Outlook for Windows allows you to sync your Brella sessions and meetings with your Windows Outlook Calendar app. It will sync all your upcoming sessions and meetings for all your Brella events and it will also be updated automatically once you have changes in your Brella schedule (there may be some delays though, it doesn't happen in instant).
  • Microsoft Outlook for Mac & Browser allows you to sync your Brella sessions and meetings with your iOS Outlook Calendar app. It will sync all your upcoming sessions and meetings for all your Brella events and it will also be updated automatically once you have changes in your Brella schedule (there may be some delays though, it doesn't happen in instant).
  • Other clients would open another Calendar app you have on your device. It will suggest to subscribe to Brella calendar with similar functionality as for the other calendar agents.
  • Export calendar would allow you to download all your bookmarked sessions and meetings in one file, which you can later use to upload your meetings to a calendar of your choice.
